What is the best anti virus software for my laptop?

Hi, I’m trying to do my research here as I want to purchase a anti virus software for my PC. So far I can see that it is out of BitDefednder 2008 and Kaspersky. Which really is the best deal for me?

Not BitDefender, Kaspersky ftw!

Edit: Not Norton, because of the simple fact that it just slows your computer down sooooo badly, and not AVG because of all of the false positives it gives you.

False Positive: It means that your software, mainly Anti-Spyware + Anti-Virus software, but most often Anti-Virus, gives you false warnings that they detect a virus or a spyware threat, and they believe that it is a virus or a spyware threat because of the way that the file(s) are written in code. Kaspersky is the way to go because you literally never get any false positives, and it’s low on resources, which means it doesn’t slow your computer down a lot like norton does.

Kaspersky is consistently rated highly in independent lab tests. I would go with that. Avoid Norton – it hogs a lot of memory and can bring less powerful PCs to a grinding halt.

AVGFree – no monthly fee, daily updates, works better and not as much a memory hog as Norton. Plus did I say it was free!

Keep away from Bit Defender. Kaspersky is good but it can be a bit of a system hog sometimes.

AVG is much lighter and wont hog down your system as much and there isnt much difference between the two, AVG also includes antispyware protection as well as antivirus.

AVG is also free as the person above stated.

But whatever you do, keep away from Norton and McAfee. They are the worst for slowing your computer down, you will be sorry you installed them!

If you want to Buy then Norton Anti Virus (or Internet Security for the whole package). For a Free Anti Virus you need AVG. Google AVG and download free from one of several sources. You get Free daily updates too. Do not know anything about the two you are considering

If u can get McAfee its really good. Because most of the cooperate customers use McAfee, but it wont come free and there support is Superior.

If u want a good free Anti-Virus software u can use Avast!.

BitDefender is improved a lot but not even closer to kaspersky

If you are only considering "Anti virus" i suggest using NOD32 over both!
    download NOD32 here…
    http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/NOD-Download-4492.html

    Visit NOD32 home page….
    http://www.eset.com/download/

but to my knowledge anti virus program is not complete…..
    so y not
go for a complete suit such like kaspersky internet security 7 ….

The only thing with kasperksy is It takes a hell of lot time to scan the entire PC!
Other than that that would be the ultimate choise…..
