Can I transfer anti-virus software from one computer to another using a flash drive?
My computer has a virus which is denying me access the internet. I do not have any anti virus software on it and can’t download any because it can’t get on the internet. So, is there anyway I can download anti virus software from another computer on a flash drive, and transfer it onto my computer?
Guess I should have also added: how exactly do I do that? I’d need step-by step instructions.
I answered your question early on, you have malware with proxy server, malware is NOT classed as a virus, therefore anti virus software will not remove your malware.
My computer has a virus which is denying me access the internet – No it does not, it has malware with proxy server, NOT a virus.
Can I transfer anti-virus software from one computer to another using a flash drive? Yes but you need to remove proxy server before it will update.
The malware may stop your anti virus software from working.

Yes, you can download the installation program for the AV software on another computer, put that on your flashdrive, and then install it from the flashdrive onto the infected computer (be very very careful how you wipe the flashdrive afterwards).
You almost certainly can’t copy an already installed AV program.

You can download the latest antivirus install file from a reputable antivirus company, and then use a flash drive to take it to your problem computer and install it. Most of them, like AVG or Avira or Avast or NOD32, will let you download a 30-day trial version for free. Once installed, the antivirus program may want to update itself, (which may not be possible if the internet isn’t working…) but nevertheless you should be able to perform a full scan.
I highly recommend also using a program called Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, also free, google it and you’ll find it easily enough, it’s one of the most effective ways of detecting and fixing bad things on your computer, IT people use it frequently.
I also recommend that you start your problem computer in safe mode before you install and run these things (tap F8 when booting up).
